Old Greenwood’s First Shared Workspace

Tahoe Mountain Realty (TMR) in partnership with Tahoe Mountain Club will open the Tahoe Mountain Hub at Old Greenwood, a new shared public workspace on July 19. Formerly used as a traditional real estate office, the innovative real estate brokerage realized there may be a more functional use for the space. Identifying a need in the Tahoe-Truckee community, TMR found a new application for its premium office space that provides utility to those living in or visiting the area.

Tahoe Mountain Hub, located in the Golf House between the Old Greenwood pro shop and The Terrace Grill, features inspiring views of the 18th hole and Northstar’s Lookout Mountain, communal and high-top tables, moveable furniture including couches and workstation tables, and complimentary WiFi. The space will be open daily at no charge to the public, keeping the hours of the Old Greenwood golf course from approximately 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

“The changing demographic of the Tahoe-Truckee region is allowing for ever greater flexibility for working hours and venues. This is enabling a new wave of families to spend greater amounts of time in the region. We hope to provide a workspace that facilitates more time in the mountains,” said Jeff Brown, owner and general manager of Tahoe Mountain Realty. “We believe the best use for this space is to make it available to those in our community who want a quiet place in a beautiful setting for a few hours before a round of golf or a mountain bike ride.”

With seating for up to 30 people, Tahoe Mountain Hub will offer simple conveniences including table or desk space and free WiFi. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at The Terrace Grill during the summer months. Those interested in working from this new co-working space at Old Greenwood can do so at their leisure, with no reservation required. Access and workspace is available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Group events may also be booked in advance. Tahoe Mountain Club is pleased to provide on-site catering for private events.

The 2017 State of Telecommuting Report, produced by FlexJobs and Global Workplace Analytics recently reported that the number of people telecommuting increased 115 percent in the last 10 years. The report also concluded that in total, 3.9 million U.S. employees, or 2.9 percent of the total U.S. workforce – not including those who work from home only occasionally, freelancers and the self-employed – work from home at least half of the time, up from 1.8 million in 2005. With this in mind, TMR’s goal is to be on the cutting edge of consumer trends and to offer a community benefit.

An open house is scheduled on July 19 from 3-5pm for those interested in previewing the Tahoe Mountain Hub at Old Greenwood. The workspace will be open for public use daily beginning July 20. Learn more about Tahoe Mountain Realty at www.tmrrealestate.com.
